The MAX-800 is a compact professional eight channel vacuum tube mic and line preamplifier. The unit provides eight channels of Class A inputs featuring discrete front end design and transformerless, electronically balanced outputs for ultra low noise .
A unique feature of the MAX-800 is the inclusion of compressor/limiters on all inputs, all of which offer the choice of optical or FET gain reduction.
The MAX-800 utilises unique circuitry to allow a choice of Optical or Fet gain reduction with the same side chain. This enables the user the widest possible degree and range of compression, from severe (to crunch drums or bass) through to light limiting for classical and acoustic recording or merely as protection from overload at the front end of a DAW. The result is a hugely versatile and musical unit capable of being used in almost any situation from drums to synths to orchestras at a fraction of the price of any similar system.

Theshold: The threshold control determines the audio level above which gain reduction occurs.

Fet/Optical: Allows to select betwen 2 very different reduction system.

Comp/Limiter: Allows select the reduction ratio between soft or hard characteristics.

G.R Meter: Meter the gain reduction.

Recovery: Control the time required to restore system gain to normal after the input signal has fallen bellow threshold level.

Attack: Select 3 diferent attack times.

GAIN Mic/Line: An 11 position rotary switch that controls the gain of the tube stage in 5dB steps.

PAD: -20dB

Ovl: The Red Led iluminate when the input level exceeds the maximum XLR input level which is 3 dB below the overload point.

+48V: w Supplies 48 volts to the XLR inputs for condenser microphones requiring phantom power.

High Pass FIlter: Provide 12 dB/octave low frequency rolloff 90 Hz.

Phase: Phase reverse swith,where "+" is normal phase (input) pin 2 hot) and "-" is inverted phase (input pin 3 hot).

Output level: The output is a passive conductive plastic attenuator that control the output level.
